In Legacy, Mathieu centers the Juneteenth flag with the African American flag to remind viewers of the impact that education (Pictured: formerly the Colored High School, now Booker T. Washington) played in propelling the country to make Juneteenth recognized federal holiday.
In the lower right corner is Suffragist Pinkie Yates and Martha Yates Jones in decorated horse and buggy celebrating Juneteenth as they travelled to Emancipation Park.

"Legacy" provides an historic backdrop of how former enslaved people, triumphed establishing a path for the coming generations. It embraces the peace, freedom, love and empowerment that this community as shown with the doves flanking in the upper right above the Juneteenth jubilee amongst the Adinkra symbol "nkonsonkonson" which symbolizes unity and human relations, charging people with the duty to always contribute to the community as we recognize that in unity lies our strength.
