His large-scale public murals and mosaic installations have become permanent landmarks within the city of Houston, establishing him as a definitive voice in contemporary public art.

Baptiste’s work has been exhibited at institutions and cultural touchstones including Art Basel Miami (2019), Haiti’s Presidential Palace, Rice University, The Jung Center, Discovery Green, and the Woman’s Hospital of Texas, alongside extensive philanthropic curations for the Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti and APROFISA. In recognition of his profound civic contribution and creative leadership, he was named one of Houston’s Most Influential People in 2022. Through every canvas and public monument, Baptiste continues to foster deep social awareness, ensuring his practice serves as a permanent catalyst for systemic reflection and transformative change.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The bedrock of my creative practice is rooted in the conviction that art possesses an inherent responsibility to teach, heal, and inspire. Moving fluidly between expressive abstraction, anatomical portraiture, and structural sculptures crafted from reclaimed or abandoned materials, my work investigates the ecological and human condition through a rigorous systemic lens. Each piece navigates a delicate, continuous tension—acting either as a direct visual documentation of historical struggle, or as a love story exploring how nature, nurture, and human resilience coexist and resist.

My rich cultural heritage informs an impeccable ability to infuse a profound love for highly saturated, vibrant color into beautiful visions and historically dark, forgotten spaces. As a self-taught visual artist, my technical perspective heavily channels the dramatic, elongated emotionality of the Mannerist movement alongside the psychological depth of the Surrealist era. Through these lenses, my practice remains dedicated to exploring oppressed habitats, magnifying unsung human histories, and giving a monumental voice to realities that are routinely marginalized or left unexpressed.

I view our collective existence as a beautifully complex maze filled with fleeting moments of joy, profound rebirth, and continuous learning opportunities as we strive toward a higher self. My art acts as a direct reflection of that hope, emphasizing our deep interconnectedness for a better world. Just as the studio has always provided my own safe harbor and escape, it is my ultimate intent that when you sit with these works, you are invited to pause, reimagine, and escape into a place of lasting inspiration, deep healing, and newly awakened awareness.
